History: | 7th September 1840. Had a broken Main Shaft. 1842. Caught smuggling.Worked the London to Hamburg run and had something of a reputation for speed. Perhaps this had something to do with her smuggling activities 1st March 1842. Arrived at London from Hamburg. 24th May 1843. One of the crew fell from the foremast through the skylight and into the engine-room. 27th April 1859. A bottle containing a paper with a message of the ‘Caledonia’ had foundered was found. 24th May 1858. The paper of the day reported that the foundering was a false report. 29th February 1864. Run aground and sunk at Flamborough Head. | ||
